SFI provides the complete FieldServer Gateway Solution
FieldServer Products available through SFI
FieldServer FS-X40
The X40 is arguably the most powerful and flexible industrial protocol translator currently in the market today. What's more, configuration of the X40 is done in a Comma Separated Variable (csv) file format, meaning that no more than a text or spreadsheet editor is required to write the configuration. FieldServer Technologies provides the utility software for loading the configuration and monitoring communications on the FieldServer free of charge! Add to this that the 8 RS-232 ports, 2 RS-485 ports, 2 Ethernet ports and 1 ISA card slot on the hardware provides a platform that is suited for most applications needing a protocol gateway. Of course, the 80+ protocol drivers offered by FieldServer Technologies on this platform is a great bonus too, not to mention the fact that only hardware limitations restrict the driver combinations possible on this platform (and that's not much of a restriction). It's no chore, for example, for the X40 to take Modbus and LonWorks data at the same time and present it to Allen Bradley and Bacnet front ends simultaneously.
For the experienced network integrator, this product is a "must have" as it opens up the field of integration opportunities and provides the flexibility needed to allow incompatible products to communicate with each other.
FieldServer FS-X20
The X20 is a scaled down version of the X40. While sporting less hardware functionality, the X20 has still managed to maintain most of the processing power and software functionality, making it the ideal solution for customers who need no more than a serial port and an Ethernet port for their gateway application. The FS-B2011 also includes a LonWorks port, which is extremely handy.
ProtoCessor
ProtoCessor is a family of Coprocessor modules that can be embedded into a vendor product to provide the product with not just one, but MANY different protocol interfaces. The ProtoCessor family uses a common PC board footprint, allowing site interchangeability of ProtoCessors. This feature is a boon as it means that protocol interfaces can be individually tailored to meet the customer's needs without requiring an external gateway. The ProtoCessor concept has taken it one step further in allowing protocol drivers to be site loadable! In summary, it means the vendor needs to design for one footprint only, and after that have a large library of Ethernet and serial protocols available to offer the customer.
This product is not intended for integrators, but for vendors. Board design is required, but even that is minimal.
Protocol Security Gateway
If your investment / infrastructure / your customers is protected by a device that has a standard serial port, then is it really protected? Serial protocols rarely provide any security / authentication. If one person can change a set point or change an operating parameter then so can any one else. The most common protocols in industry today (e.g: modbus) are without any security layer.
The Protocol Security GatewayR can stop intruders in their tracks. Prevent ‘write’ commands passing from one side of the gateway to the other unless authorized. Authorization is done for one / any of the following parameters: Destination Node, Memory Address, Source Node, Source IP, Destination IP, Time Interval. You can permit all ‘reads’ or apply the same authorization to ‘reads’.
The Protocol Security Gateway R can provide audit reports: who changed what and when. It can also provide intruder reports and email designated personal when attempts are made to make unauthorized changes.
This product fills a niche that is becoming a growing concern in the industry.

SFI Service is by an Approved FieldServer Systems Integrator
FieldServer Technologies has recognized SFI's extensive experience in working with the FieldServer product range by awarding Gordon MacLachlan (Mac) the status of "FieldServer Approved Systems Integrator". This recognition comes as a result of nearly seven years of experience in supporting customers with their FieldServer installation, and providing network integration services and consultation.
Making FieldServer Integration a pleasant experience is one of several services offered by SFI.
FieldServer Technical Support
SFI offers six months of free telephonic and email technical support with each FieldServer product or service purchased. Additionally FieldServer support contracts can be purchased from SFI. These contracts are structured to suit the customers needs, so feel free to contact us for details on your application.
